Dooley Car Rental Republic of Ireland Insurance 1 Collision Damage Insurance (CDI):
This limits your financial liability for material damage to the vehicle, including theft, as long as the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. CDI is subject to an insurance excess (see below).
If you have chosen a rate that excludes CDI you are liable for the full value of the vehicle and a minimum deposit of €3,000/£2,500 will be required when you collect your vehicle. You may opt to purchase CDI locally per rental which will limit your liability to the excess levels details later. The cost of CDI by car type per day is shown in the table below.

2 CDI Excess - Excess Liability (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
All rentals that include CDI are subject to liability excess, ranging from €1,200 to €1,800 depending on the vehicle in the Republic of Ireland and ranging from £600 to £800 depending on the vehicle in Northern Ireland. This is the amount for which you are liable in the event of damage to the vehicle during the rental.The table below outlines the excess amount by car type.

3 Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW) (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
In the Republic of Ireland you may reduce the excess to €100 if you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). In Northern Ireland you may reduce the excess to zero id you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). The rates per day to reduce the excess by car type are shown on the table below.

4 Theft Protection
If a rate exclusive of CDI is purchased by the customer, theft protection is specifically excluded. If the vehicle is stolen the customer is liable for the full value of the vehicle. Customer may avail of theft protection on the vehicle for a nominal charge of €8/UK£6 per rental day.
5 Tyres & Glass Coverage
You may reduce the liability for tyre and glass damage to zero for a payment of €5/UK£4 per rental day.
6 Credit Card Insurance Coverage:
Certain credit cards offer collision damage cover for the driver, however most VISA, Mastercard and American Express card issuing companies in the USA have withdrawn coverage for car rental in the Republic of Ireland. A number of Canadian issued credit cards also offer coverage.
If the customer wishes to use their credit card to cover collision damage, a current letter of Authorisation from the credit card company must be presented at the time of rental in order to waive the CDI coverage. Client should not that theft insurance may not be included.
It is the sole responsibility of the customer to determine coverage with their provider and present proof of same upon arrival. If proof of coverage is insufficient, the customer will be charged locally for CDI. No car will be rented without CDI being included in the rental.
An administration charge of €25/UK£20 per rental applies if the customer opts to decline our Insurance Products.
7 Damage to Vehicles:
A damage report must be completed by the driver for any damage to the vehicle. If a collision occurs, a Police report must also be supplied when returning the vehicle. We strongly advise clients to contact us immediately in the event of any damage. If this procedure is not followed, the insurance cover could become invalid and the client could be liable for all damages.
8 PAI (Personal Accident Insurance):
This may be purchased for €6.50/£5 per day and covers the driver only to a maximum of €12,500/£10,000 |
